Description

Gulgong is a 19th-century gold rush town in the Central Tablelands and the wider Central West regions of the Australian state of New South Wales. The town is located about 300 km north west of Sydney, and about 30 km north of Mudgee along the Castlereagh Highway. At the 2011 census, Gulgong had a population of 1,866. The streets of Gulgong have changed very little since the 19th century. As well as its fascinating history, art and hospitality, Gulgong local industries include wine production, wool, wheat growing and coal mining.
