Edmonton was an independent township supporting a sugar mill, but is now a suburb of Cairns, Queensland in the Cairns Region, Queensland, Australia. At the 2006 census, Edmonton had a population of 8,035 Edmonton is located approximately 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) south of the centre of Cairns on the Bruce Highway and within the Cairns Region local government area.
